Karen was born in Pouch Cove Newfoundland October 14, 1963 to James & Grace Sullivan. Shortly after birth Karen was diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa, the exact same condition which both her brothers were afflicted with upon birth also.
Retinitis Pigmentosa is the name given to a group of disorders of the retina, all of which result in a progressive reduction in vision. Over the years Karen has displayed amazing strength and adapability. In her childhood years she had to adjust to a new environment several times as her family had moved in search of employment and a better life. She eventually found herself back in Pouch Cove for her teen years. She had finished high school and found employment with a theatrical group The Longside Players as an actress. These were highly enjoyable years for Karen as she grew into an independent woman. Like all good things in Newfoundland the Longside Players had come to an end(at least for Karen.) She was unable to make ends meet, so in search of a better life she packed up and headed for the gray skies of Toronto.
Karen put her self through a business course at George Brown College, after which she was hired to work for Rogers Cantel as a front line customer service rep. In August 1996 Karen obtained a guide dog, her name is Oreo(like the cookie.) In October 1997, she meet and fell in love with Chris Young from St. George's, Newfoundland. Karen has since been promoted to the Human Resources recruitment department. Karen and Chris have since purchased a home and are happily living in sin.
Chris was born in Stephenville Newfoundland on October 21, 1972 along with his twin sister Jennifer to Ruth and Ronald Young. They all lived in a modest home on station road in St. George's, Newfoundland. Chris' uneventful school career ended with Chris' graduation as class valedictorian in 1992. After a summer of extreme drinking and partying Chris too packed up and headed for the gray skies of Toronto.
Chris moved several times including a one-year stint back in St. George's, Newfoundland. Chris had finally found peace and happiness living and working in Brampton. During which time he meets and fell in love with Karen Sullivan. Chris left Brampton forever to move in with Karen. Chris has since left his job in Brampton and taken employment with Rogers Cable. As they enter the new millennium they prepare for a long happy life together. They hope you enjoy this web site as a further glimpse into their lives. Take care, and don't forget to sign the guest book.

We are adding a new feature to Chris n' Karen dot com. The "feature site of the month" section. We receive tons of mail from people requesting that we add their link to our world famous links section. We have noticed that many of these are very nice sites and deserve to be displayed more openly for all to enjoy, or it could be a product or information that we feel Newfoundlanders would enjoy. We have decided to select one link a month as feature site of the month.
Our Fourth site of the month:
Fara Spence is a cyber-acquaintance who I have had the pleasure of conversing with a few years ago. She is a high school teacher and an author. Most importantly she is a Newfoundlander who is originally from Gander/Port au Choix, Newfoundland. She sent me a copy of her first book "That Hurt Thing" Karen & I enjoyed it so much that we have read it a couple of times since. I was so excited when I visited her site again recently to see how she was doing and I saw that she has released another book - "Black Water Born."  The book chronicles the stormy relationship between hapless ne'er-do-well Lucky Steele and socially graced and gifted Helen Pittman. The book is set against the historical backdrop of turn-of-the-20th-century Newfoundland, and issues of the day such as religious sectarianism, the suffrage movement and the struggle for sealers' and fishermen's rights colour the text but do not, for the most part, shape it. For Spence, the real story is the one made by the trajectory of star-crossed love.
The book received
a wonderful review in the Globe & MailFara's site is very well done, and for this we award her the Chris n' Karen featured site of the month.
